The Roman goddess of hunting

Diana, the Roman goddess of hunting – the model for the founding fathers Jakob Mayer and Josef Grammelspacher. Two men, one vision, which they realized together in 1890. The result was the Diana plant, which to this day inspires more than ten million shooters all over the world.

HISTORY

1890
Jakob Mayer and Josef Grammelspacher found the company “Mayer & Grammelspacher, Fabrik für Massenartikel der Eisen & Metallwarenbranche ” in Rastatt.

1901
Jakob Mayer is granted a patent for a “breech mechanism for break-barrel air rifles,” which is still used in millions of airguns today.

1905
Introduction of the DIANA brand name and its corresponding logo.

1908
First imperial patent certificate dated January 31, 1908, issued to Jakob Mayer.

1910
Early DIANA air rifles did not yet have wooden fore-ends. Users held directly onto the bare metal.

1930
Advertisement poster circa 1930: Eureka rifles and pistols for the youngest customers. They fired wooden arrows with safe rubber suction cups. 

1947
In 1947, the complete dismantling of the factory facilities takes place. Reconstruction begins in 1950 in Rastatt.

1960
DIANA Model 60. At the time, the only recoilless and vibration-free air rifle is introduced by DIANA.

1987
DIANA Models 48–52. Development of the most powerful DIANA long-range air rifles with fixed barrels and side lever cocking.

1988
A reason to celebrate: Silvia Sperber wins the Olympic gold medal in Seoul with a DIANA small-bore system.


1992

Introduction of the Model 54 – a recoilless long-range air rifle with a patented recoil absorption system.

1990
DIANA celebrates its 100th anniversary.

2000
Model 350 MAGNUM – still the most powerful long-range air rifle in the world, with a muzzle velocity of 380 m/s, is introduced.

2008 
DIANA employs a total of 90 staff, including five trainees.

2008 
Launch of the new LP8 Magnum pistol with an aluminum housing. With a power of 7.5 joules, it is one of the most powerful air pistols on the global market.

2011
Introduction of DIANA’s first pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) air rifle, the P1000. 

2014
Launch of the N-TEC series featuring gas piston technology.

2014
DIANA is acquired by German Sport Guns (GSG) in Ense, North Rhine-Westphalia.

2015
Further development of the N-TEC system and introduction of the 350 N-TEC Magnum – the most powerful DIANA air rifle of all time. 

2015
125th anniversary of the DIANA brand.

2015
DIANA presents the patented Zero-Recoil Mount, which isolates scopes from the recoil of spring-powered air rifles.


2016
DIANA begins producing air rifles under license from Mauser, including the K98 and AM03. Inspired by the famous Blaser R8, DIANA also introduces the AR8 air rifle.

2018
DIANA reorganizes its product portfolio into the "Action" and "Performance" lines and expands its PCP range with the Skyhawk, Outlaw, Stormrider, and Bandit models.

2019
DIANA revolutionizes break-barrel air rifles with the launch of the new 34 EMS (Easy Modular System).

2021
With the R-22 rimfire rifle, DIANA continues a long-standing tradition.

2022
DIANA introduces the Model 30 neo, a new fairground rifle, strengthening its strong ties to the amusement industry.

2022
DIANA brings the XR series to life – a pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) line proudly made in Germany.

2025
DIANA celebrates its 135th anniversary.
